Designing a kitchen that ages well

PLACEHOLDER - The kitchens that age well are almost never the loudest ones on the day they are photographed. They are the ones where every material choice was weighed against how it will patina, and every proportion was drawn with a longer horizon in mind.

This piece looks at three decisions that decide whether a kitchen still feels considered a decade later: the finish of the base cabinetry, the depth and lighting of the island, and the discipline of the tall units.

We will follow with a longer essay on stone selection for Indian homes - the trade-offs between marble, engineered quartz and porcelain - later this season.
